Review by Alyssa for Rating: I bought a coulpe sample sizes of Macadamia Oil from Ulta and absolutely fell in love with it! It had a sweet smell and smoothed my dry hair without much product. I purchased a regular size bottle from Ulta for full price, but decided to see if there could possibly be some Macadamia Oil sold online for a discounted price, in which case I could return the more expensive bottle for a refund.I purchased a bottle off Amazon for a bit more than half the cost of retail prices. When the bottle arrived, I did a comparison between the legitimate bottle I had purchased and the one that was shipped to me. They were very similar, but if you looked closely you can see font discrepancies and the packaging on the bottle I purchased off Amazon had a sticker that did not look like it was placed on the bottle as professionally as the one from Ulta. However, I dismissed these things for further comparison.Once I placed a pump of product in my hand from the Macadamia Oil ordered off Amazon, I knew I had just ordered a bad generic replica. The oil did not have a sweet macadamia smell. Instead, it had a sour alcohol-like scent. The color was clearly a brighter shade of red and the consistency was thin.To summarize all of this simply: The real Macadamia Oil is AMAZING for your hair. But make sure you buy it from a reputable source such as Ulta or the Macadamia website. The oil sold on here is FAKE and simply does not compare to the real thing. Spending the extra amount of money is well worth it.
